What people use Sitemap.xml Generator for
- Producing a sitemap for a small site that has no build step to generate one.
- Creating a sitemap for a set of URLs you want indexed after a migration.
- Building a supplementary sitemap for a section a CMS does not cover.
Sitemap.xml Generator: limits and things worth knowing
- A single sitemap file may contain at most 50,000 URLs and must not exceed 50 MB uncompressed. Beyond that you need a sitemap index pointing at several files.
- Google ignores the priority element entirely and treats changefreq as a hint at best. Only loc and lastmod carry real weight, and lastmod only when it is honest — a file that claims every page changed today gets the field discounted.
- List only canonical, indexable URLs that return 200. Including redirects, noindex pages or 404s wastes crawl budget and reduces trust in the file.
- Reference the sitemap from robots.txt and submit it in Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools; neither happens automatically.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. Sitemap.xml Generator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
