About Filevane
Filevane is a growing collection of fast, private, browser-based tools — a single place for the everyday file, image, document and developer jobs you keep needing. Merge and sign PDFs, convert and compress images, format code and data, generate passwords and QR codes, crunch numbers, and more.
The idea is simple: the tools you reach for every day, gathered in one place — and built so your files never leave your device. Everything runs locally in your browser, which is what keeps Filevane instant, private and free.
Private by design
Most online tools upload your file to a server to process it. Filevane does the opposite: the work happens on your own computer using the browser you already have. That means a contract, a bank statement, a family photo or a snippet of source code never leaves your machine. There is no account to create, no file stored in the cloud, and nothing for us to leak. It is also why the tools feel instant — there is no upload wait and no server round-trip.
You should not have to take that on trust, and you do not have to. Filevane publishes a Content-Security-Policy that the browser itself enforces, so uploading your file is not merely against our policy — it is blocked before the request is sent. Our privacy proof page shows the exact header, lists every third party it permits, and walks through how to verify the whole claim yourself in about thirty seconds.
How it is built
Filevane is a static site: there is no application server, no database and no file storage anywhere in the system. The tools are real implementations rather than wrappers around someone else’s API — PDFs are read and rewritten with pdf-lib and pdf.js, images are re-encoded through the browser’s Canvas API, text recognition runs on Tesseract compiled to WebAssembly, and video and audio work is done by FFmpeg, also compiled to WebAssembly and running on your own machine. That architecture is the reason there are no daily limits, no queues and no watermarks: there is no per-task server cost to recover.
What’s inside
Filevane spans six main areas: PDF tools for merging, splitting, compressing, converting and signing documents; image tools for converting, resizing, cropping and compressing pictures; developer tools for formatting and validating JSON, XML, YAML, SQL and more; text tools for cleaning, counting and transforming text; colour tools for picking, converting and generating palettes; and a large set of calculators covering finance, health, maths, dates and unit conversions. New tools are added regularly.
Who builds Filevane
Filevane is built by Khawar Bashir and Muhammad Abdullah — a father and son who write the code between them. Muhammad is studying computer science and works on Filevane alongside other projects. The company behind it, Ramzan & Co., was registered in Pakistan in 2026.
The site exists because of a specific frustration. Almost every free online tool uploads your file to someone else’s server, and none of them prove otherwise. Rather than take that on trust, we measured it: we handed an identical 3 MB file to 20 online PDF tools and counted the bytes that left the machine. Twelve of the thirteen we could measure sent the whole file. Filevane sent nothing.
We are a new company and do not pretend otherwise. What we offer instead of a long track record is a method: every claim on this site is one you can check yourself, and where a tool is an exception — three of them are — we say so on that tool’s own page. Does it matter where we are based?
It is a fair question, and the honest answer is that it matters far less for Filevane than for an ordinary online tool — because we never receive your files in the first place. A server-side converter puts your document under the jurisdiction, data-protection regime and legal process of wherever its servers sit. Filevane processes everything inside your own browser, so there is no copy on our side for any jurisdiction to reach.
