What people use Favicon Generator for

  • Producing the full set of icon files a new site needs from one source image.
  • Adding a home-screen icon for iOS and Android.
  • Replacing a favicon that looks blurry or wrong in dark mode.

Favicon Generator: limits and things worth knowing

  • An .ico file can hold several resolutions in one file, which is why the classic favicon.ico is still the most reliable fallback across old browsers.
  • iOS ignores favicon.ico for home-screen bookmarks and uses apple-touch-icon at 180×180. Android reads icons declared in the web app manifest instead.
  • Design for the size it will actually be displayed at. A detailed logo that reads well at 512 pixels becomes an unrecognisable smudge at 16, so favicons usually need a simplified mark rather than the full logo.
  • An SVG favicon can respond to the browser's dark mode with a media query inside the file, which raster formats cannot do.
  • Browsers cache favicons unusually aggressively; a hard refresh often is not enough to see a change.

Is it private and secure?

Your privacy is built in. Favicon Generator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.

Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.

You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
