What people use Meta Tag Generator for
- Producing a complete head block for a new page in one go.
- Making sure a page has matching title, description, Open Graph and Twitter tags.
- Checking title and description length before publishing.
Meta Tag Generator: limits and things worth knowing
- Google truncates titles by pixel width, not character count — roughly 580 pixels, which is about 55 to 60 characters in mixed case. A title in capitals truncates much earlier.
- The meta keywords tag has been ignored by Google since 2009 and by Bing for nearly as long. It is harmless and it does nothing.
- Google rewrites titles and descriptions often, most commonly substituting the H1. A well-formed tag makes that less likely rather than impossible.
- Only one canonical tag per page, and it must be an absolute URL. Two conflicting canonicals cause Google to ignore both.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. Meta Tag Generator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
