Schema.org Generator: limits and things worth knowing

• Google retired several rich results recently, and emitting markup for them earns nothing: FAQ rich results stopped appearing in May 2026, and HowTo was removed from mobile and desktop back in 2023. Both remain valid Schema.org and are still worth emitting for answer engines — just not for a SERP feature.
• SoftwareApplication requires aggregateRating or review alongside name and offers. Without one it is a validation error rather than merely an ineligible page — and inventing a rating to clear it breaches Google's structured data policy.
• JSON-LD is Google's recommended format and is far easier to maintain than microdata, because it sits in one block rather than being threaded through the markup.
• Structured data must describe content visible on the page. Marking up information a visitor cannot see is a policy violation, not a shortcut.
• Unrenderable markup is not free: it fills Search Console's Enhancements report with unactionable items that bury the problems you could fix.
