PDF Information: limits and things worth knowing

PDF metadata routinely leaks more than people expect: author name, the software and version used, and creation and modification timestamps. Check this before publishing anything externally.
The Producer field often reveals the originating application, which can disclose internal tooling.
Page dimensions are reported in points, where 72 points is one inch. A4 is 595×842 and US Letter is 612×792 — a quick way to diagnose a document that prints with unexpected margins.
Metadata is separate from content, so redacting the text does nothing to it.

Is it private and secure?

Your privacy is built in. PDF Information does all processing on your own device using client-side code, so your files are never transmitted, stored or seen by anyone — including us.

Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.

You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
