• Formatting never changes which rules win. Specificity and source order are unaffected by whitespace, so a formatted stylesheet renders identically.
• Nested at-rules such as @media and @supports are indented as blocks, which is usually what makes a minified file suddenly comprehensible.
• Whitespace matters in a few CSS values even though it does not matter between rules — inside calc(), the spaces around + and - are required, and removing them breaks the expression.
