What people use Clipboard Formatter for
- Stripping formatting from text copied out of a web page or Word.
- Removing hidden styling before pasting into a CMS.
- Cleaning up text that arrives with the wrong font and colour.
Clipboard Formatter: limits and things worth knowing
- Copying from a rich source carries HTML alongside the plain text, which is why pasted content arrives with fonts, colours and sizes attached. This removes it.
- Ctrl+Shift+V pastes without formatting in most applications and is the built-in equivalent — useful when you remember it.
- Invisible characters often ride along too: non-breaking spaces, zero-width characters and smart quotes. These are a frequent cause of code that will not compile and search queries that do not match.
- Text copied from PDFs commonly contains line breaks at the end of every visual line, which need removing separately for the text to reflow.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. Clipboard Formatter runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
