Pressure Converter: limits and things worth knowing
- 1 bar is 100,000 pascals and about 14.5 PSI. Standard atmospheric pressure is 101,325 Pa, 1.01325 bar or 14.696 PSI.
- Gauge pressure and absolute pressure differ by one atmosphere. Tyre pressures are gauge — a flat tyre reads 0 PSI while still containing air at atmospheric pressure.
- Millibars and hectopascals are numerically identical, which is why meteorologists moved between them without changing any numbers.
- Tyre pressures should be checked cold; driving raises pressure by several PSI.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. Pressure Converter runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
