What people use UTF-32 Converter for

  • Finding the Unicode code point of a character for use in an escape sequence.
  • Working with a system or format that stores text as fixed-width code points.
  • Understanding how an emoji or a combining sequence is composed.

UTF-32 Converter: limits and things worth knowing

  • UTF-32 uses exactly four bytes per code point, so index arithmetic is simple. That simplicity costs memory, which is why almost nothing stores text this way in practice.
  • There are no surrogate pairs in UTF-32. A character above U+FFFF is a single unit here, whereas in UTF-16 — which JavaScript strings use internally — it is two, and that is why '😀'.length is 2 in JavaScript.
  • A code point is not always a visible character. An emoji with a skin-tone modifier, or a flag, is several code points that render as one glyph.
  • Endianness matters for UTF-32 in files, which is what UTF-32LE and UTF-32BE distinguish.

Is it private and secure?

Your privacy is built in. UTF-32 Converter runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.

Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.

You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
