Runs entirely in your browser. BCrypt is intentionally slow, so high cost factors may take a moment.

BCrypt Generator: limits and things worth knowing
- bcrypt is deliberately slow, which is the entire point: it is designed to be expensive to brute-force. General-purpose hashes like MD5 and SHA-256 are fast and therefore unsuitable for passwords.
- The salt is generated automatically and stored inside the resulting hash string, which is why the same password produces a different hash each time and why you never need a separate salt column.
- The cost factor is the number after the algorithm identifier and is a power of two. Raising it by one doubles the work; 12 is a common current choice.
- bcrypt silently truncates input after 72 bytes. Long passphrases are cut, and pre-hashing to work around it introduces its own problems.
- Everything runs in your browser, so no password or hash is transmitted.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. BCrypt Generator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
