CSS Clip Path Generator: limits and things worth knowing
- Percentage coordinates are relative to the element's bounding box, so the shape stays proportional as the element resizes. Pixel coordinates do not.
- Clipping affects hit-testing as well as appearance — the clipped-away area stops receiving clicks, which is usually what you want and occasionally surprising.
- polygon() shapes can be animated and transitioned, but only between shapes with the same number of points. Add redundant points to make two shapes interpolate.
- Clipped content is invisible but still present in the DOM, so it remains available to screen readers and to find-in-page.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. CSS Clip Path Generator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
