Brick Calculator: limits and things worth knowing

  • Brick counts depend on the format and the bond. A standard UK brick with a 10 mm joint gives about 60 bricks per square metre in a single-skin wall, and roughly double for a double-skin.
  • Add 5-10% for cuts, breakages and future repairs. Bricks from a different batch rarely match in colour, so ordering short is a lasting cosmetic problem.
  • Mortar is typically around 0.02-0.03 m³ per square metre of single-skin brickwork.
  • Openings for doors and windows should be deducted, but the perimeter usually needs extra cut bricks, which partly offsets the saving.

Is it private and secure?

Your privacy is built in. Brick Calculator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.

Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.

You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
