PDF to Excel: limits and things worth knowing

PDF has no concept of a cell. Extraction infers a table from the position of text on the page, so results are excellent on clean, ruled tables and unreliable on complex layouts.
Merged cells, multi-line rows and tables that span pages are the usual failure points — always check totals against the source.
A scanned PDF needs OCR first, and OCR errors in digits are the ones that matter most in a spreadsheet.
Use Extract Tables for a more focused extraction when the document is mostly prose with a table or two in it.
