What people use JSON to XML for
- Feeding JSON data into a legacy system or SOAP service that requires XML.
- Producing an XML payload for a partner integration from a modern API response.
- Generating XML fixtures for testing without writing them by hand.
JSON to XML: limits and things worth knowing
- XML has no native array. A JSON array becomes a repeated element, which means the round trip back to JSON cannot tell a one-item array from a single value without a schema.
- JSON keys can contain characters that are illegal in XML element names — spaces, leading digits, most punctuation — so those keys have to be sanitised or the document will not parse.
- Everything becomes an element by default rather than an attribute, because JSON draws no distinction between the two.
- XML requires exactly one root element, so a JSON array at the top level has to be wrapped.
Is it private and secure?
Your privacy is built in. JSON to XML runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.
Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.
You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.
