How the text editing works
The PDF is opened inside your browser and every line of text on the page is located — its exact position, size, angle, colour, and the colour of the paper behind it. When you retype a line, that line alone is patched out and redrawn in place. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.
Replacement text is drawn in the PDF built-in fonts (Helvetica, Times or Courier), so a rewritten line may not be a pixel-perfect match for an unusual typeface, and non-Latin scripts can’t be typed in. Everything you don’t touch keeps its original fonts and stays selectable.

Can I really edit the text that is already in a PDF?
Yes. Every line of text on the page is located along with its position, size, angle and colour. Click a line, retype it, and that line is patched out and redrawn in place. Lines you don't touch are left exactly as they were.
Does my PDF get uploaded?
No. The document is opened, edited and re-written inside your browser. It never leaves your device, there is no account, and nothing is stored on a server.
Why doesn't my replacement text look identical to the original font?
Replacement text is drawn in the fonts every PDF reader has built in — Helvetica, Times and Courier. The tool picks whichever is closest to the original and keeps the size, weight, slant, colour and position, so ordinary documents match closely. A distinctive display typeface will look near, not identical.
Can I type in Arabic, Chinese, Cyrillic or Greek?
Not yet. The built-in PDF fonts only cover Latin characters, so the tool tells you which characters it cannot draw rather than writing a broken file. Existing non-Latin text on the page is left untouched.
Is the old wording really gone from the file?
By default the replacement is painted over the original, which is what keeps the rest of the page sharp and selectable — but the old string is still in the file underneath and could be copied out. Tick “Remove the replaced text for good” before downloading and the edited pages are re-rendered so the old text is physically gone. Text on those pages stops being selectable in exchange.
What if my replacement is longer than the original line?
It runs on past where the original ended, and you'll see that in the preview before you download. Tick “Shrink replacements to the original line width” and it is scaled down to fit instead — useful for table cells and form fields.
Can I move text, or add and delete lines?
You can add new lines of text anywhere on a page with the Add text tool, and white out any existing line with Erase. Reflowing a paragraph — where deleting a sentence pulls the rest up — is not something a PDF's fixed layout supports.
