What people use Salary Calculator for

  • Converting an annual salary to a monthly, weekly or hourly figure.
  • Comparing a contract day rate against a permanent salary.
  • Working out the annual equivalent of an hourly wage.

Salary Calculator: limits and things worth knowing

  • The standard full-time year is 2,080 hours — 40 hours across 52 weeks — so an hourly rate times 2,080 is the annual equivalent before any deductions.
  • Comparing contract to permanent on headline figures alone is misleading. Contract rates must cover unpaid holiday, sick leave, pension contributions and periods between contracts, which is why a 20-40% premium is normal rather than generous.
  • These are gross figures. Income tax, national insurance or social security, and pension contributions all reduce take-home pay, and the rates are jurisdiction-specific.
  • Benefits — employer pension contributions, healthcare, bonuses — can account for a substantial part of total compensation and are not in the salary figure.

Is it private and secure?

Your privacy is built in. Salary Calculator runs completely on your device, so whatever you enter stays in your browser and is never transmitted, logged or stored on any server.

Network activity: none. Nothing is sent and nothing is fetched. This tool makes no network request at all once the page has loaded — which is why it keeps working if your connection drops.

You do not have to take that on trust — our privacy proof page publishes the Content-Security-Policy that enforces it, lists every third party it permits, and shows how to verify the whole claim yourself.

Why Browser-Based Tools Are Safer for Your Files Most online converters upload your files to a server. Client-side tools don't. Here's why that difference matters for privacy.
